About

Here be a brief history of Pete Prodoehl’s involvement with video, and how it led to this site…

As a child I thought video was a very cool medium. I watched lots of television. I wanted a video camera. Video cameras were very expensive. I did not get one. I did, on rare occasion, get to play with video cameras, and much hilarity ensued…

As a high school student I remember doing at least one film project, and having to edit by hand, which involved cutting on angles and special tape. Luckily these skills came in handy later in life for rescuing damaged VHS tapes…

As a college student I took a filmmaking class. I liked it, except for the ‘film’ part of it, but they didn’t offer videomaking classes back then…

As a mischevious young adult (ok, I was also a college student at this point, but I have to distinguish the timeline somehow) I was the proud owner of a Pixelator (aka Fisher Price PXL 2000 Video Camera.) In fact, I’m still the proud owner of said device, and may find ways to incorporate it here. Milt was my parter in much of the PixelVision we produced, and almost every video started out with “I don’t know if you can see this…” followed by one of us explaining exactly what was going on…

As an adult (that’s debatable) I’ve now got a real video camera (actually, two: an old analog model, and a new cheapy digital one) and occasionally recorded things, and am now attempting to record even more…

To be continued…

(Oh yeah, I’ve also been using computers since 1980, weblogs since 1997, and podcasting since August of 2004… It all ties together somehow… My other site is RasterWeb!)
